Curriculum
Our curriculum provides rigorous academic instruction designed to support every student’s ability to earn a New York State Regents diploma and graduate prepared for college, career, and civic life. Students engage in challenging coursework across core academic subjects while developing the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed for long-term success.
Students also have opportunities to pursue additional academic rigor through Advanced Placement courses and NEON college courses. These offerings allow students to challenge themselves with college-level learning and may provide the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. All students engage in college preparatory skills and opportunities such as college tours, overnight campus tours, panel discussions, workshops and advisories that include college essay writing and career research.
Rooted in our organization’s values of law and social justice, our curriculum is culturally responsive and designed to reflect the identities, experiences, and strengths of our students. Through meaningful instruction and real-world connections, students are encouraged to think critically, advocate for themselves and others, and understand their role as leaders in their communities.
Our elective offerings allow students to explore their interests beyond the core curriculum. Through courses in physical education, foreign language, and the arts, students engage in learning experiences that support personal growth, wellness, creativity, and collaboration. In foreign language courses, students also have the opportunity to work toward earning the Seal of Biliteracy, an accolade that recognizes their proficiency in English and an additional language. These opportunities invite students to dive further into cultural richness, artistic expression, and meaningful exploration.
